Not much -- by the time Saturn started flying, we were already firmly on
the path to solid-propellant ICBMs. It was an extension of the
Redstone-Thor-Atlas-Titan line, which -- while all we had in the early
days, and all that could guarantee the needed performance as of 1961
-- was always more maintenance-intensive and slow to launch than the
USAF generals liked (not to mention nothing the USN wanted inside a submarine).
