I took the bbs down this month, and the modem's CID runs a lot better with
just 2 or 3 calls a day instead of 25-35 user calls and 100-150 mail calls
each day I used to get. The modem would pick up after the first ring to grab
the cid info but instead of hanging up right away like usual, it would stay
off-hook for maybe two, three full seconds. No CID data would come through
to the mailer and the call would be lost 80% of the time. This got really
bad last December, so I sent it into Supra for repair. The modem came back
showing the same disorder.
It's too bad the modem retrieves the info in this way. I have caller-id
units all over the house and none of them jump all over the phoneline in such
a manner as the Supra.
