Concerning _Antenna_, Jonathan Guy said to Troy H. Cheek in SCANRADIO:
JG> wire from the power distribution box run into the cab by a local car
JG> stereo shop, they put the gold connectors in and used enough fuses to
JG> protect everything. Cost me about $90 in parts and labor, but that
JG> was almost 5 years ago, never have had the first problem and they had
JG> all the right tools to do it in
I'd probably have trouble justifying that to myself. I don't really intend
to have this car 5 years from now, so anything I do to it has to be something
can (or, at least, tell myself I can) unbolt and move into another vehicle
some time down the road.
JG> I had a mag mount on the roof, coax run through the bottom of the door
JG> behind the seat and up to the ham radio....antenna got knocked off
JG> the truck one day and ripped the antenna off...broke the coax...but
JG> the radio came out just fine...
I lost a walkie talkie once by sticking the antenna out the window while dad
was driving on a country road. Snagged in a branch or something and pulled
it right out of my hand. Had to buy another set of two...
JG> "A moment of silence for the Larsen Dual Band Antenna"
" "
... "Bother," said Pooh, as he realized his scanner was fried.
