Yes, it doesn't add too much in the mostly casual communication that goes on in
fidonet...

I don't think so. It also has it's function in public forums like fido's
echomail...

If they can verify the signature is really made by who you claim you are! It
would be even better, because it's easier to create a false hand written
signature.
