I dunno, It seems in every vehicle I have ever driven or owned that the
350 just consumes WAY more gas. Currently I compare the 305 in my C10
(1969, actually a 1977 block, 4th motor) to any of the 350's I have
owned and the consumption is alway's much less. The biggest factor is
exhaust. I don't push the block, I just drive it and with a full exhaust
those motors work better (more economy). Compared to the 350 in before
and the 327 before that it get's ton's more mileage. I can actually
prove it as The gas logs for the 327 and 350 are still around the shop
somewhere from the accounts reciepts.
Any motor gets horrible mileage with the foot in floor disease.
A 305 gets better because it isn't a performance block, drives just fine
without being snazzy and isn't CAPABLE of flowing enough to be
hot-rodded to an extreme *wink*
As an amusing experiment, for a gutless motor put headers on a 305...
It actually has alot more torque with a full muffler installed. Scary
eh?
