I am very glad to see some semblance of altmed subject coming back to the
echo. It is getting almost pleasant to read it again.
I was contemplating rule of behavior the other day and I noticed that there
are rules everywhere...whether in a dept. store, beach, park, road, even to
checking out library books, or where you live there are rules about what
color your house has to be or if you disrupt the neighborhood. Then to get
even simpler, if you were having guests over to your home and some of them
acted like some of the people here screaming they had THE RIGHT to say and do
whatever they pleased and courtesy and other people's feeling be damned, how
long would you personally have them in your house without asking them to
leave?
On a written note, if you walked into a newspaper office or a magazine
publication and demanded that the editor print anything you wanted because
you have freedom of speech and if he/she didn't he/she was a Nazi and was
undemocratic, wouldn't you find that a little ridiculous? Well, the same
applies to any echo. The moderator not unlike an editor, host or anyone else
that has any say so decides what IS and is NOT proper on his/her echo.
SOMEONE has to make rules and in this case that someone is me. I tried to
treat all of you like thinking, intelligent adults capable of understanding
there are MANY opinions in the world, many will not fit into your lifestyle,
belief system etc. I was hoping you were all mature enough to accept this
and let what didn't fit on go but that doesn't seem to be the case so up
steps mean, nasty incompetant moderator, Dia. From this point on, if you are
unhappy with the echo, leave. If you don't like the rules, start an echo of
your own and do what you damn well please. In Spock's words (probably badly
misquoted) The rights of the many sometimes supercede the rights of the
individual. What is BEST for the whole of altmed is my decision and anyone
not liking it, exit stage left. A simple, polite request, a warning and then
you're outta here.
No need to reply to this or argue. Abide or leave, simple choices.
