MT> Actually, the band is named after a character in a Stephen King novel.
Hmmmm.... Are you sure? I thought it was the other way around.
In any case, I know that KC's lyricist, Pete Sinfield, first came up
with the name, `The Crimson King' in 1968 or 1969 when he was trying to
invent another word for Beelzebub, or Satan, the devil, etc. for a song.
Now I don't know exactly *where* he got it from, but that's where the
band first heard it. They obviously liked it and decided to call
 themselves King Crimson.
I know the name `The Crimson King' is also used for a character in a
book called "Insomnia" by Stephen King, but I've always thought that he
got the name from the band rather than the other way around. I don't
have a copy of the book here, but I'm pretty sure it was published
after 1969, when Pete Sinfield was first credited with making up the
 name.
Can anybody else confirm this or add any further information?

     Cheers,
              Martin
