Thank you for demonstrating the old adadge that you can lead a horse to 
water but you can't make it think.  

As it stands, 5% off ALL blacks in that period of time were illiterate.  
only some 30% or so of whites where.  

As we are talking about the southern states, the demographics of 
white to black were sort of close to 50-50. 

Do the math.
