Is it a random number? Here, it's one's birthday (6 digits), century
spcifier, a three digit "serial" number (starts from 001 as the
first child to be born/registered on that day) and then a validation
character. Dang easy to remember - I
m child number 045 of my day, and a very good friend with child 136 of the same day!
