It is fun, and it's in the blood of those of us who have done it for so long. 
Besides that, what does it hurt. If You have the hardware, in this day and 
age, You can choose how much time You choose to put into the hobby. It's not 
like when we had 7o+ callers a day and felt obligated to make everything just 
perfect to try and please everyone. Staying up to all hours of the night 
tinkering. You can enjoy at Your liesure now. Of Course it is up to You. But 
You had a nice system...
