CH> You need to reveiw the current legal definition of "free". The way
CH> the Bell Atlantic scam works is that there is an approximate $300
CH> commission to the agent or dealer for getting the one year contract.
CH> Out of that, the dealer or agent pays for the so-called free phone.
CH> The customer is required to pay a certain sum (minimum) for at least
CH> one year which insures that the dealer gets paid for the phone.
CH> Sounds like an installment sales contract or at least a deceptive sales
CH> practice to me.
CH> Taking your statement at face value, if you only got $75-100 for
CH> the signup, how could you afford to buy that phone?
It's free to have the phone, you just have to pay for your service. So it
is FREE to you. Otherwise you'd have to pay for your phone and it wouldn't
be free.
... There's always one more SOB than you counted on.
