Replying to a message of Martin Rosenfeld to All: MR> Please tell me what a MAC is. Is it a brand of Ethernet chip MR> or is it something related only to remote booting or both. A personal computer made by Apple. You're probably thinking of a MAC address, that's a unique hardware address that's built into every network card. TCP/IP software puts that address someplace in the header of every packet it sends out, along with the originating and destination IP addresses and a bunch of other stuff. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:2905/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/300 400 34/999 90/1 120/228 123/500 134/10 140/1 226/0 SEEN-BY: 229/4000 236/150 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 633/260 262 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 SEEN-BY: 2222/700 2320/105 2800/18 2905/0 @PATH: 2905/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
