Pretty close. The Doolittle Raid was only a few months later, and we were
in action against submarines out of Iceland very quickly. At least one
carrier battlegroup, around the Lexington and (I think) the Yorktown, was
conducting offensive operations against Japanese held islands pretty
quickly.
