FR> You picked one of the most currently popular at home
FR> businesses in the book! In many areas of the country,
FR> the market is saturated. You will have to work hard
FR> and smart to get the edge that will help you beat the
FR> competition.
Work sounds good! So far, it has taken time enough to get started! I can be
patient.
FR> Charge enough money to stay in business! Many don't
FR> charge enough, thinking they will get more business by
FR> charging less. Actually, you wind up working harder
FR> and earning less. If you are the cheapest service in
FR> the area, you will attract cheap clients who will not
FR> value your work and you will scare away good clients
FR> who will not believe good work can come cheap.
Noted!
FR> I have a list of resources for word processing
FR> businesses that I post periodically in the INK echo on
FR> FIDOnet. See if your local BBS has the INK echo and
FR> check the older messages. If they do not have it, send
FR> me internet e-mail requesting the resource list and I
FR> will send you a copy of the list. If anyone else is
FR> interested, send me private e-mail or net-mail.
FR> Please do not request the list in this echo! I
FR> wouldn't want to clutter up the echo with requests and
FR> disturb the harmony of the moderator, who must remain
FR> moderate (grin).
I'll look for it there! You can also mail it to me at
frodojrr@interaccess.com. Thank you!
What about advertising? I was thinking about starting in the Parish
Bulletin. The bulletin company wanted a 1 year contract for $10 a week and a
$60 deposit. At first I thought the 1 year contract was a bit much, but,
according to my sister who is in advertising, that is pretty standard.
Where do you advertise? Word of mouth? Newspapers? What would you
recommend for someone just getting started?
