The files on the harddisk are 8.3 with long style links to them. The bbs
uses both and the excist both for a good reason. Some mailer protocols can
only transfer 8,3 files. For the rest the long names are used if possible.
The whole switching has become a bit messy, but it wasn't possible to leave
just the 8.3 nnames out.
If you have a recent mbsebbs version, then users will almost everywwhere see
the long filenames.
