Hi Garth,
GR>MSGID: 1:140/17.11 f9dd0b2e
GR>PID: TerMail 4/Pro ff488e22ec
GR>MOOD: Testing Testing 1 2 3 :->
GR>Well I finally managed to get this modem up and running.
GR>It turns out the reason I couldn't get the software
GR>to install was because I had a hard drive that was dying.
GR>I only found this our after many long hours trying to
GR>get things going.
GR> It set itself up on com3 IRQ 10 even though I turned off
GR>com2 in the bios.
GR> A couple of questions...
GR> Fax reception... The Windows FaxTalk Messenger that came
GR> with the modem works fine but I don't want to be using windows
GR> all the time.
GR> I use Terminate in host mode so I can receive faxes and have
GR> access to my files from a remote location but I can't get the
GR> fax to work (I had it working perfectly with my Supra 144i)
GR> I've tried using a setting similiar to the one I used with
GR> my Supra 144i FaxModem but no luck.
GR> Was something changed?
If you're using Win95, the modem must be run through Windows.
If you're using Win3.1, the modem may be using an IRQ too high for the
software. Double check the software IRQ capabilities.
GR> Next...
GR> Is the SupraExpress 288i PNP capable of being flash upgraded?
No Garth, the SupraExpress modem is not flashable.
GR> When I log on to my ISP I can connect with no problem
GR> but after a while (sometimes in just a few minutes)
GR> I'll start getting errors (the downloading stops)
GR> and then the next thing I know I'm offline (disconnect)
GR> this is starting to get a little irritating...
GR> I'll have 95% of a large file downloaded and then bang...
GR> I'm disconnected.
GR> Is there anything I can do to stop this?
Double check your settings. Be sure the flow control is set to hardware
(rts/cts)
