The reporter suggested the question, but he did not suggest the spontaneous cheers from the other soldiers. I thought he was being pretty resourceful. Regarding someone saying that the retirement one was an odd-ball question, it was actually about all benefits, and "retirement" was just an example; granted, the first one that seemed to come to the questioner's mind. Sea story: Admiral's call, with CNO Boorda. Big guy, a weightlifter, gets to ask a question of the Chief of Naval Operations. He had a complaint: he has a 50-inch chest, and he has a hard time getting uniforms that fit. Needless to say, the CNO did not recommend his personal tailor, nor promise to dedicate the resources of the military supply system to getting this one guy a big shirt. Nor did the audience cheer. I'm sure that guy got an earful from his CO, after it was passed down the chain. -- Steve http://www.qmss.com/sewing --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
