LN>Can anyone tell me if there are any Registries that would include
LN>New York State? I've got 2 friends, not related, but both were
LN>born & adopted in New York. One adoption was handled through
LN>Catholic Family Services.
In several states when an adopted person attains the age of 18, they can
view their adoption records. Each state has certain criteria that the
adoptee must meet prior to opening those records, and that information
can usually be provided through Court Clerk's office. If they know what
county their adoptive parents resided in at the time of the adoption,
they should be able to get in touch with the right court.
If there is an adoption registry in the state of New York, that
information might be obtained by calling the State Bureau of Vital
Statistics.
