Have you guys noticed another problem that exists with SFX files, which are
always EXE format? Its IMPOSSIBLE to transmit via email attachment *ANY*
archive file that contains EXE files to people who use Google Mail. I have
run into this aggravation a lot in the last year. According to Google, its
a safety measure they have to protect their customers. So they won't
accept any email messages of any kind that have an EXE file attached.
Either an outright attachment, or inside any kind of compressed file
archive.

One of you mentioned how RAR/Winrar is always being worked on and updated.
The latest gotcha related to Winrar that I've noticed is that Norton
Internet Security 2009 now says that winrar390.exe contains a very nasty
virus. So it won't allow the winrar executable on my system at all as a
result. This may have something to do with that trojan horse virus that is
slipping into applications made with Delphi. Just thought I would mention
that stuff in case others aren't aware of the two issues. Its been years
since Pkware
released anything whatsoever. Winzip is kept up-to-date often, but Pkware
appears to have stopped developing their programs completely.

Its also annoying that companies like Pkware still charge a lot of money
for dos versions of programs. Or that in some cases, the registrations
that
you buy are only good for a single year. I would imagine that irritates
the heck out of those company's customers.

Am I mistaken, or is BBS Carnival the only BBS related echo that still is
in continual usage? It seems like other echos like BBS_Doors, DOorgames
have just died. What's the story behind that situation? Donald
