My reasons have nothing to do with CRC checksums.  It's because of certain
people putting ads and crap into my archives that I got tired of years ago.
I've had people bitch at me for using RAR and not ZIP, so I tell them if
they want to send me the money to register ZIP, I will.  No one's taken me
up on the offer and they've all seemed to just shut up.
