Actually - CUPS _will_ work with USB printers - provided 
the OS/2 lpd daemon is running.

With the lpd daemon running - any printer that is 
connected to OS/2 can also be printed to via the lpr 
protocol - even if it doesn't have native OS/2 drivers.

The downside to this is that you end up with two printer 
objects - 1 for CUPS that prints to CUPS, then a second 
that just routes the lpr job to the USB (and probably LPT) 
printer.

Hope this makes sense....

Note that with CUPS, it's currently not straightforward to 
import the PPD file into pscript.drv which is necessary 
for printing from OS/2 applications.

Also, Ghostscript has some issues recognising an option 
that CUPS passes to it for multiple page documents - this 
is currently under investigation.
