That's cute! When we first took Rio out in the car (geez, that was EONS
ago--1987!), she screamed LOUDLY whenever we went under an overpass or
got next to a semi rig. Took her several car rides to get over that
problem... Kirsche was much easier to "car break". She just hopped up
on the nearest shoulder and started to "sing" (an off-key moaning with
the occasional word or two thrown in). She sang for an hour straight one
trip...we finally had to stop for a break because we couldn't laugh any
more!

How long is the road trip? I never put water out WHILE we're travelling
with birds. We make stops every hour or so anyway, and I fill a small
dish from a jug and let them drink their fill while we're stopped. I
dump it out before we start rolling again. For long trips with few
stops, I've heard that pieces of orange or other juicy fruit make good
substitutes for water (cover the cage to prevent fruit flinging onto the
upholstery).

All I can say is, somehow THEY KNOW..............
