I don't know about the .ea file, but have you tried chkdsk /F after
mounting the volume? That fixed ea problems on my camera's flash card
after I did the same thing with PMView. Also there should be an option to
just format the media card as opposed to reformatting the phone. That
should just blank out the files on the card. In my limited experience with
phones, they don't save phone settings on the media cards but instead in
internal memory.
