If it's the one I assembled, it's most likely an LG - can't remember the 
last time I used a Sony drive, but I suspect "4x" was in the title.

I switch them up all the time, and no one's complained they don't work 
(yet).  It would be suicide for a drive manufacturer NOT to support "the 
standards", so I suspect compatibility is not an issue anymore.
