this part was hopelessly incorrect...

clarity needs to coexist with accuracy or it will never be helpful...
macro viruses infect the macro portions of *.doc files, not exe files,
and not com files... it's just a special portion of the doc that ms word
for windows interprets as containing programs that it has to interpret
and run...
... i miss the blinking leds on my external modem...
