I love the grays too and never seem to be able to pass one up.
They are extremely vicious birds, though. I once had a colony and I had
big pharaoh quail that lived peacefully in with the 'tiels for years. I
put them in with the budgies while I moved or cleaned or did something
to the tiel flight. I started with 24 quail and the budgies killed all
but 5 or 6.
I've also had budgies raise lovebirds and lovebirds raise budgies. I
also had an English Budgie raise a dusky conure for a while last winter.
