I have been occasionally playing the "All-Christmas" channel on
Sirus (the satellite radio) and have discovered that Dean Martin is one of
the sources for the "lounge singer" stereotype.   I have little
experience
with them myself; I keep thinking of Bill Murray's character on SNL.
Listening to Dino croon about "Rudy, that red-beaked reindeer" is
grating.  And Natalie Cole, whom I've never really liked, seems to do the
same thing.

But right now I've been stuck on an obscure Sonny&Cher tune off the
'60's pop channel: listening for songs of your youth is not without its
risks.
