Bill is exactly correct!  There is no substitute for 0/0 pits / scratches,
and plenty of elbow grease. Watch the outside inch or so to the edge.  I
use a focusing pin light and a 10x loupe in a darkroom.  the center zones
will polish out rapidly unless you are doing something wrong and contact
isn't being maintained.  Spend the time pressing and polishing, and you
will end up with a perfect polish upon which to figure.
