In a dark room with the mirror extremely well cleaned, a hand laser works
well for finding pits. If the spot shows on the mirror's surface, the
light is scattering rather than transmitting through or reflecting off.
The edge is the usual slow poke, don't finish the polishing stage until the
edge is good.
