I have good luck with OS #8's.
Too much compression will kill plugs. An extra head gasket or two will
help this. Aluminum particles from a header and pipe rubbing together will
kill plugs. Revving up the engine with the glow power still on can burn them
out.
Look closely at the burned out plug wire. If the ends have a bead like
it was melted then it got too much heat. If it is a clean break it was
vibration. Too rich can also beat up the element by hammering it with fuel
droplets.
Most of these problems come from adding a pipe. It increases the stress
on everything.
