Oops. Do you have any friends that have 6L6 amps? Borrow a pair.

Seriously... I don't think Randall ever actually made tubes. The US makers
were RCA, GE, and Sylvania. Philips is often thought of as American, but
they're European.
Every amp company used to buy tubes that were relabelled for them. Current
Fender tubes are Sovtek. Randall undoubtedly did the same thing. Mesa and
even GT do as well. GT's Sylmar plant was badly damaged in the Northridge
quake and it was shut down. GT's are relabelled Chinese tubes. They are
supposedly tested, but as I told Tom, I put a set of GT 12AX7s in my Carvin
and I'm not happy with them. The gain is lower than the Rubys that I took
out, and I think one is microphonic.
Best bet is to contact AES (www.tubesandmore.com) and order some NOS US-made
tubes. They're more expensive than Sovteks, but I don't think they're more
than GTs, and two NOS 6L6GCs certainly isn't going to break the bank.
C-ya! Rich
