TT> Ahh, sh*t happens in the wierdest places on a production site - but
TT> you know that, right? :-)
Yeah, and it often happens to me.... but that's the way the live sound
industry goes.... I actually had a reversed hot/neutral in one of my
AC feeds that I put together *myself* (he says while slapping himself in
the face repeatedly); I shouldn't wire AC feeds after working for 4
days with no sleep.... >:) I can't imagine making a more stupid mistake!
-> The shows were spectacular, but it didn't sound good.
TT> That's typically. It sucks, but it's typical. Adjust your
TT> expectations and enjoy hearing "The Wall Part II" performed live for
TT> the umpteenth time. :-)
Yeah, that, what you said..... There is a lesson here somewhere....
-> 1/2 an hour is never enough time to align a system the way I like...
TT> Unfortunately, though, and you know this, lengthy soundchecks are
TT> _right out_ in most roadshows these days. Again, a "typically sucky"
TT> situation :-( ...
I know it; I have turned down a lot of work lately, simply because I
didn't want to be so rushed as the schedule would have forced me to be.
I feel that if it doesn't sound reasonably good I have not done my job,
and I prefer to avoid those no-win situations altogether; not that it
is possible to avoid them all.....
-> The exception would be those venues that are just plain impossible to
-> cover properly...
TT> A 20,000 seat hockey arena falls in that category. Hell, even Bob
TT> Scovil has admitted publicly to giving up after 30 minutes of beating
TT> on a system's rigging, when in an arena...
Yup; I wouldn't tough such a venue with *someone else's* 10 foot pole!
->seating installed so high that the air is thin. Take care.
Ah yes.. the nosebleed seats..Bloomin' awful! You take care too.
