Well, I've never tried it with a splash screen containing an image. I've got 
a few panels and some text, and no weird color effect. I'd say it's 
definitely related to the bitmap you're using.

There goes my only guess - if using a 16 color bitmap doesn't fix it, I don't 
have any ideas. Good luck, though :-)
