AH>>> Take Mrs. Palin's claim to have opposed the "Bridge to
Nowhere." Long
AH>>> after it was exposed as false, she kept making it. The assumption
AH>>> behind the McCain strategy is that truth is irrelevant.
RS>> She still claims this.
JM> Because it is true.
She supported it before she opposed it?
She never "opposed" it. However, when congress took it off the
budget, Alaska got to keep the money. Remember, as an earmark
they had to spend the money on the bridge. Once the earmark was
deleted, but Alaska kept the money, it was free money to them.
Note, this was the 2006 budget. Palin was not elected governor
until Nov 2006, and the 2006 budget was passed in 2005. The
earmark was deleted in Nov lf 2005. Palin continued to speak
in support of the bridge before the election, but shortly after
taking office she cut out the state portion of the funding,
which made the bridge undoable.
So, it looks like she may just have deceived the people of
Alaska on that.
RS>> Remember how the then-popular "joke" was about how
Gore "claimed to have
RS>> invented the Internet," even though he never said it?
JM> But he did. In a March 1999 interview with Wolf Blitzer,
JM> Gore said, "During my service in the United States
JM> Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."
Yes, he did speak the truth then. However, taking the initiative
in the Senate is nothing like inventing the internet. He took
the initiative in the govt portion of building the internet,
that is, in funding it.
Remember, the internet was a government project.
IOW, you are spinning history to bend it to false purposes.
