It's almost certainly the same version.  It depends on where you read the
version number from, as the bldlevel info shows

I used the content of a trap dump file which is generally the easiest way.

I'm not ruling out hardware.  It just does not yet seem to be the most
likely cause.

It would not be a suspect other than that the change occurred at about the
right time.  You try running without it long enough to decide whether or
not there's any real reason to suspect this change.

Then, I'm curious.  Where did you get the idea about corrupted
executables?
