JL> Thanks for the advice, Mike.
Yer welcome!
JL> I have a good lead on a good notch filter for this pager from
JL> my buddy Steve Donnell. I'm going to follow up on his advice.
Good luck. Let us know what it is and how it works, ok?
JL> Moving is a definite possibility!! And a great idea!
I just moved twice in three months and I don't think it is too
great. :-(
JL> The site where the pager and FM station are is actually very
JL> nice. A spectacular view of the area and during this time of
JL> year, with the leaves in full color, the view is beyond
JL> description.
I hear ya! I've been as high as 1900 feet on a tower and the views
are something else. Always loved that part of climbing.
JL> Trouble is, after I've spent some time up on the hill near all
JL> that RF output, I can always smell liver cooking......And I
JL> think it's mine!!
THAT is the part that I did NOT love. When I was in the tower
business there were no ANSI standards. If we would have told the
stations to shut down or go to low power when we climbed, they
would've laughed and got another rigger. I've climbed hot AM towers
at 5000 watts, been inside of "wrap-around" UHF TV antennas
transmitting with 60,000 watts combined aural and visual RF power up
the line, and other "liver cooking" situations. I've had to rip off
my watch band because the RF was making it burn my wrist. Also took
a 3000 watt RF burn/arc to the stomach. I would imagine that all
that RF has eaten a bit of MY wiring out. :-|
73,
Mike
