Red Heifer Found in Israel (Summarized)
Last week, several leading rabbinic authorities 
confirmed that a ‘Parah Adumah’, a red heifer, was
born in Kfar Chasidim, near Haifa. The birth of a 
red heifer is an exceptionally rare occurrence. 
This is the first instance of red heifer known to
be born to Jewish farmers since the Temple period,
2,000 years ago.
The ritual of the Red Heifer is described in the 
Bible, Bamidbar (Numbers) 19:2-7 as follows: “Speak
to the Children of Israel that they bring to a Red
Heifer...” The heifer was ritually slaughtered on the 
Mount of Olives(overlooking the Temple Mount)...
At the end of this week’s Bible reading the section 
regarding the Red Heifer is read...during the time
of the Temple, many Jews underwent the purification
ritual before Passover to enable them to partake of
the Pascal lamb at the start of Passover.
According to many in Israel, the birth of the Red
Heifer is a sure sign of the imminent arrival of 
the Messiah. Other signs alluded to are the 
appearance of the Hale-Bopp comet, and the abnormal
amount of rain, bring a bumper crop in Israel.
