Hi! Ed,

In a message to All you wrote:

Although I don't use IE at all any longer, I would have to say 'no'.
Having different development teams, and different roots have a bearing on
what we're seeing these days.

It still seems to be: one URL == one cluster (file), at least with Barb's
XP (IE 8.xx?). FF keeps all your Favorites as bookmarks in a single file
(which are large IAC).

It would have changed, I'm sure. These days FF is using Java-type bookmark
files (.json extension), I think. FF also uses a bunch of SQL data files
(.sqlite extension) for all manner of things to remember. These are quite
recent changes.

That's one of the few things I make sure to include in backups. That and
Barb's Thunderbird profile directory, and also for my U'u TB profile.
(Sure, new/re-created installations use a different profile pseudo-root but
the backups can be grafted in fairly easily.)

EV> If IE has a seperatr History File with all of where I visited in

EV> As Charlie Brown would say, "UGH!!!!".

Yeah. You're not just seeing double; they are using double the HDD real
estate! But, that's partly why we're having to have multi-gigabyte HDDs
these days. Progress has its drawbacks. ;-)

Cheers,
Paul.
