I think the Big Bang is an admirable model. It seems quite plausible given
the observed red shift which would seem to suggest that (depending on how you
look at it) the stars are moving away from each other, or the space between
the stars is stretching. On another hand, I don't think anyone's ever ruled
out other possibilities, so I wouldn't go around forming a belief system
around that model, unless there was some grant money involved. My policy is
to pay attention to the various models and sit on the fence until I find it
useful to pick a model and run with it.
