Literally: Final velocity. Generally referring to (and in this case) the
fastest velocity of an object. We were all wondering what the velocity
of a .22lr bullet would be if fired straight up and fell back to earth.
My estimate is varied between 2 and 3 times the velocity of a round
hailstone of similar diameter. Enough to hurt, and possibly penetrate
skin, be probably not enough to kill. The problem comes in when one
does not fire straight up, and a low arc allows the bullet to retain
velocity from the initial charge.
