~> BK> Point one: Since when do you have to maintain any airspeed to ~> BK> keep an engine from stalling? ~> I agree. The Navy report concluded that he failed to "maintain an airspeed above the stall speed" while he was turning. My mistake was in taking that to mean that he dropped the engine speed down to the point that it stalled. The more detailed stories seem to indicate that the turn rubbed off airspeed that was not compensated for, resulting in the plane's lift - not the engine - stalling. The engine quit providing sufficient lift, which from the pilot's perspective would have the same effect as the engine stopping. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5a* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:124/311) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 SEEN-BY: 261/100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 SEEN-BY: 633/267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 124/311 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
