Hi! Jean, In a message to Holger Granholm you wrote: JP> Paul, I got back on your BBS via Win 8.1. The last update was done JP> yesterday and I had to get TB initialized again. I had not done this JP> for a while and I had to refer to some note that I keep, thanks. Don't worry, I had noticed you'd "gone quiet" for a bit. My thinking was that you were swapping seasonal residences again. :) JP> Nice to see that the bunch of 6 is still using this conference. Not JP> much going on in regards to Win 95, even the moderator is absent. Well, I cloned a new Win98SE vBox off of another Win98SE vBox (that I use as our email gateway). (This time I used the vBox cloning method rather than the hard way through a DOS copy. I'm learning still!) It was specifically aimed at running an old favourite game that doesn't run properly in my XP vBox, where I assumed the vBox (Guest Additions) video driver was at fault. Although the game runs well-enough most times I don't think it's well-suited to running even in a Win98SE vBox, which was never the makers' intention. It would be a pity to have to drop it after a 17 year history, here. JP> My first go at W8.1 would not. I had a bug on the HD that even JP> CHKDSK /R would not fix, it would stop at 22% for ever. I refreshed JP> the W8 installation then it righted the problem and I was able to get JP> the .1 done. Runs like Flynn. I sleep safe at night knowing that you're giving the latest technology a good thrashing. You do know that Flynn was a Tasmanian (Aussie), don't you. ;-) Cheers, Paul. ... It must have been good; can't remember anything & my ears are ringing! --- Paul's Win98SE VirtualBox* Origin: Quinn's Post - Maryborough, Queensland, OZ (3:640/384) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/296 384 954 1384 712/0 620 848 @PATH: 640/384 954 712/848 633/267 |
