Ahha!  Yes, the same thing happened with me too.  I recalled that the DOS
MODE command has such a feature, and just checked MODE /? help in a
DOS-box.  It includes...

  Redirect printing: MODE LPTn[:]=COMm[:]

Does your version of Windows still have that sort of capability?  I'm
probably whistling Dixie with this idea...
