| subject: | ATM Can CeO2 `etch` a polished mirror? |
From: Kevin and Danielle McCarthy

I warm pressed a new lap on my mirror a few weeks ago, using CeO2 slurry.
I removed the tool /lap, but neglected to clean up the mirror.
The water slowly dried out. When I started back in on things tonight,
I saw some blemishes on the polished surface. No solvent would remove
them. They are not scratches, but look like a residue, except that they
won't clean off. I can't feel them with finger or fingernail. I'm about
to see if polishing will remove them, but has anybody experienced this
before?
