Howdy Arthur, Yes I have the same ROM revision in mine. Cost me $399 when I
bought it. Had it for five years. Never given me a hint of trouble. I guess
it has paid for itself. Shame I can't get $20 for it today.

I too favour external modems. Traditionally I have always favoured
upgradable standards. I purchased an external primarily so that if I change
platforms I new I would still be able to use it (RS232 is universal). I did
the same things with my hard disks, paying more for SCSI so I could uprade
cheaply and easily later. However this has turned out to be false economy.
It seems that when it comes to upgrade/update time there is always
something cheaper, faster or newer. And I end up paying more.

So now I am just going for value for money. Yes I will miss the flashing
leds, but in two years time when 33.6 just dosn't cut it anymore and I
can't sell it for $20 I will glad of the extra $50 bucks I saved.

cheers Phil
