The problem is that the press likes talking about them but normally does
not portray the young perpetrator as the criminal they are.  So, they get
famous.  Other kids like the idea of fame, so you suddenly have all these
school districts getting copy-cat threats.

Here in my area, they had at least 20 of them.  Every case but one was a
kid that made the threat.  Nearly all of those were portrayed by parents
and, in at least one case, school administrators as kids who "didn't know
better" and did not realize how horrible it was to make threats like that
just to close school.  I call BS on that one.  When I was a teen, I knew
not to do things like that.  Forget the law, my parents would have made me
regret it a lot more than any officer with a gun and handcuffs.

Kids are stupid.  The news needs to cover the trouble they get in for these
things and not give their actions all the extra attention that they do.
