There's nothing wrong with the setup.  I believe the comms programs I tried
to use were attempting a XMODEM-CRC upload, which will not work for the
flash upload.

I tried everything from 38,400 down to 9600.  It turns out that the only
program I use that's capable of doing the upload is DSZ.
