GK> I would like to begin some type of a desktop publishing

Can't say how good that will go without a storefront operation.

The problem with inkjet printers is the text is fuzzy on plain
paper, and if you use coated paper you can't compete with the
cost of those who use laser and plain paper. As well, suppose
someone wants 100 copies of something. Examine the cost-per-page.
There's a book called "Start Your Own Desktop Publishing Service"
that you may be interested in, but even they talk about laser
printers. As well, look at local service bureaus...you may think of
them as your competition, but they can do things on a larger scale.
One thing you could do with the inkjet is color desktop publishing.
I hate to come down like this, but you have to look at the
realities. Is this business going to be your only source of income?
Although a lot of people who operate home businesses don't believe
in putting together a plan, it is recommended:
"If you fail to plan, plan to fail!"
