You're still suffering ill effects as a result of leaving Call Waiting ON.
The best piece of advice is to DISABLE it while using your modem. Obviously
you're not going to be able to talk to anyone at the same time. I for one
consider it annoying when users lose carrier because they were silly enough
to leave their Easycall facilities enabled. I hope you disable it when you
access my system.
