That would be a definate improvement over the centralized control
of the current system, but I really believe we can do even better by
privitazation of the entire educational industry. Nothing would, of
course, prohibit communities joining together to enhance local
educational opportunities, but the ability to prohibit competitition,
force attendence, and compel support should be removed.
When is the last time we have complained about free market
institutions? There exists no great uproar over grocery stores, or
clothing stores, or gasoline stations. A wide choice is present for
all, service is consistantly at acceptable levels, prices are within
reason, and they are all constantly innovating and utilizing new
technologies that serve us even better. Yet with public institutions
none of these can be claimed, and most of us have ongoing complaints
about schools, the post office, and the license bureau. Choice is
absent, service is consistantly below acceptable levels, costs are far
in excess of reason, and archaic systems are maintained despite more
attractive, efficient, less costly, and more favorable options widely
available.
Free market solutions work...government solutions do not exist.
